In the reference mode, any mask or microlens array with up to several hundred subapertures over the image sensor area can be used. For the absolute measurement mode, a precision array with complete hexagonal or square structure of sub-apertures is required.
How to integrate FrontSurfer adaptive optics package into your application?
FrontSurfer adaptive optics package can be used for building an adaptive optical system for correction of aberrations. Optical design of the system is dependent on the application and should be made by a specialist. In general, the system should provide optical conjugation between the optical aberrations, deformable mirror and the wavefront sensor with proper scaling.
What coating can be used with your deformable mirrors?
The standard coating for MMDM is aluminum, for PDM — aluminum or protected silver. Gold, protected silver and dielectric coatings (with a small number of coating layers) for MMDM and practically any coating for PDM are available by a special request — please don't hesitate to ask us — just fill in the contact form on the left.
How many measurements are required for FrontSurfer to reconstruct a wavefront?
Making a membrane for MMDM is a complex process, and it's practically impossible to obtain membranes without any defect. These defects are the result of (dust) particles and are visible as small spots of uncoated membrane or as small particles stuck to the surface. Usually they are near the membrane edge. Up to two defects on a deformable mirror is considered to be OK, as they do not impair the mirror functionality. Please see Section 2.5.1 on page 25 of our Product Guide for more details.
