Unlike MEMS mirrors that employ hundreds of control channels with extreme redundancy to produce simple low-order Zernike terms, OKO mirrors are optimized to correct for the most frequent aberrations of optical and laser systems using small number of control channels, with negligible scattering and negligible actuator print-through. OKO mirrors can be HR coated for high-power laser applications, low-dispersion broadband coatings can be used for ultrafast applications while protected metal coatings are available for general use.
